Charlotte Graham is one of New Zealand’s leading interdisciplinary artists, recognized for her thought-provoking and conceptually driven practice. As a conceptual Māori artist, she is deeply connected to her heritage and is mana whenua mandated by her iwi, grounding her work in a strong sense of cultural identity and responsibility. Graham confidently experiments with a diverse range of materials and techniques, using her art as a platform to engage in meaningful indigenous dialogue.

For over two decades, her work has explored and confronted pressing social, cultural, and political issues, offering insightful commentary on the complexities of contemporary life. Her unwavering commitment to these themes—particularly those related to Te Ao Māori, environmental concerns, and sociopolitical discourse—continues to inform her evolving body of work. Through a combination of symbolism, materiality, and conceptual depth, Graham creates artworks that challenge perspectives, spark conversation, and advocate for change. Her practice not only reflects her personal and cultural narratives but also speaks to broader global discussions surrounding identity, decolonization, and the Anthropocene.
