McLeavey Gallery is pleased to present a suite of new paintings from Wellington based painter Christina Pataialii.
This new series of paintings revisits and reimagines unresolved gestures, from earlier series of work. Frayed narratives, and unfinished thoughts—returning not to complete them, but to explore alternate pathways left open. Forms blur, lines dissolve, and figures waver between presence and collapse. Each painting holds a quiet tension: between clarity and distortion, memory and forgetting, persistence and undoing.
Rather than seeking resolution, Loose Ends moves in rhythms of interruption and return—asking what still holds shape when certainty falls away.
Pastoral shades of green mixed with mint and soft ochre, the pallet evoking the rural landscape of Aotearoa New Zealand.
